MISSION

Promoting and developing Québec studies in Canada and abroad.


AIM

Creating an international network of research on Québec through :

  • co-operation with those in the Québec, Canadian and international university community who are interested in the society, history, culture, evolution and development of Québec;

  • supporting university research, teaching and publications on Québec;

  • providing Internet links for members in Québec, Canada and abroad, and creating a discussion group in order to encourage the exchange of information and opinions between members;

  • supporting or organizing conferences, seminars, colloquiums and other public events for the purpose of contributing to the development of Québec studies.


ACTIVITIES

  • Faculty enrichment grants designed to help foreign academics develop courses on Québec in their field of specialization.

  • Research grants in Québec studies to promote knowledge about and understanding of Québec through the publication of scientific articles, books, etc.

  • International program of support for conferences on Québec through the organization of speakers tours, meetings with local media, etc.

  • Support for Québec participation in activities enhancing its stature abroad, such as seminars, conferences, colloquiums, etc.


AWARDS

  • Certificates of merit in recognition of distinguished contributions to the development of comparative or multidisciplinary studies on Québec.
  • Gaston Miron Bourse d’excellence granted to a foreign doctoral student for research in Québec literature.
  • Commission de la Capitale nationale du Québec award for commendable university research on the international rôle of capital cities.

MEMBERSHIP

Students, professors and others affiliated with the university community.

 


FUNDING

The Québec Department of International Relations and of Culture and Communications provide subsidies to the IAQS for its development.  Funding is also ensured by the membership and by support from the private sector and philanthropic foundations from Québec and abroad.
